Coming out of the pandemic ad resuming some version of normal life, something is different.  Now that masks and vaccination cards are a thing of the recent past, we are re-entering and re-exploring our city and our world.

In our re-emergence within our concrete jungles, may of us have stumbled across or into the 6th Borough.  Maybe you just didn’t realize it.

What if I told you there are “secret portals” to a region of NYC you pass by, pass over, or pass through almost everyday you come into town?  Would you honestly believe me?

I will bet you passed under this in midtown.SecretRooftopGarden1

You passed over this subway station inside City Hall. You won’t find the entrance easily.

Cityhall

You passed under this garden somewhere in Chelsea. Hiline

You walked over this trapdoor during the day if you were around the LES.

Does this phone booth look familiar?  Did you dial “1”?  Or did you walk on by with your cell phone?  So you never saw the secret entrance.

You might have walked  through here once near Columbus Circle.  Look familiar? Do you remember the outside of the building?

Did you ever go to the rooftop garden?

Did you know you can “go back in time” while walking down a Manhattan street?

Hell, take a trip to the Bronx, go down a particular street and you’ll forget where you are or what year it is.

So many secrets in the most popular city in the World.

Maybe you just needed a 2-year forced solitary confinement to open your eyes and ears.

Keep looking.  Keep listening.  You never know what is waiting just around the corner.
